After graduating from the Beaufort school system, he attended Oak Ridge Military Academy, and graduated from UNC-CH with a BS degree in Business Administration. While at home at a Christmas party, he met his future wife Jean. She was a student at Meredith College in Raleigh and they dated for the next 5 years. He was transferred to Wilmington, NC and relocated to Greensboro, N.C. for a new job with Pilot Life Insurance Company. They were transferred to Nashville, TN, and back again to Greensboro to the home office of Pilot Life. He was there until retirement. He and Jean loved living in Greensboro and remained there for the rest of their lives. Lindsey was an avid reader, most interested in military history with a photographic memory and an amazing recall of dates and historical facts. He loved Carolina football, basket ball, NASCAR, politics and international travel which included numerous trips all over Europe and Northern Africa.
