Obituary of Jessica Martin

Jessica "Kay" Martin, age 71 passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2017, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical's Comprehensive Cancer Center in Winston Salem, NC with her daughter and granddaugther. Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph "Bobby" Martin, Sr., grandson, Derrick Rogers, parents, Jacqueline and Jesse Robinson, and sister, Cindy Trollinger. Kay is survived by her children, Joe Martin, and Michelle Shepard, grandchildren Joshua and Julee Shepard, her great granddaughter Lailah Rogers, brothers, Bobby Robinson, Steve Robinson, and David Robinson, and countless nieces, nephews and cousins. Kay worked at the City of Greensboro in the Church Street Parking Deck. She actively worked until her recent diagnosis of lymphoma cancer a few short weeks ago. She loved her work and developed many cherished friendships during her tenure. Her gift in life was taking care of the people that were dear to her. She was the primary caregiver to her oldest child, Joe. Over the last decade, she worked tirelessly to take care of family members with ailing health and worked full time for years while being the primary caregiver to her sister, father, husband, and brother. Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of Kay's life at Lambeth Troxler Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at 1:00 pm. The family will receive friends from noon to 1:00pm. There will be a private burial at Guilford Memorial Park later this week.
