Obituary of Bennie G. Wright
Bennie G. Wright, (Poppa) passed away at 2 am, Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Cone Health with his loving family by his side. Mr. Wright was 85, a native and life time resident of Greensboro, born December 29, 1931.
Mr. Wright retired having 39 years of experience in fire protection and security; Vice President of Operations Guilford Security Agency Inc., retired Corporate Director of Security for Guilford Mills, Inc. for 25 years, Fire Chief of Greensboro District 13, Greensboro City Firefighter, Regional VP and lifetime member of the American Society for industrial Security International, GTCC instructor of Fire Protection and Basic Security Officer Training, lifetime certified CPP, Certified Protection Professional, and authored articles for magazines; "Security MGT" and "Mature Living".
Mr. Wright was a 32nd Degree Mason of #552 Revolution Lodge, a Navy veteran of the Korean War, ordained Baptist Minister serving interim to several Greensboro churches. He gave a weekly 30 minute gospel broadcast for 6 years and authored many gospel tracts. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church of Greensboro.
He is preceded in death by parents A.F. and Ethel Minor Wright, brother Bernard F. Wright. Surviving are his loving wife of 61 years Frances Lester Wright, children; Terri Wright Brady (Randy) Asheboro, Clay Wright, Charlotte, Kimberly Wright Skrzecz, grandson, Adam David Skrzecz, both of High Point, brother Bill Wright (Mary) of Greensboro and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Saturday July 1, 2017, 12 pm at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Chapel with burial to follow in Lakeview Memorial Park with military honors. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Southside Baptist Church of Greensboro or St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Online condolences can be made at www.lambethtroxlerfuneralhome.com.
