Obituary of Marvin Lamar Pittman

Marvin Lamar Pittman, 72, passed away October 16, 2018 at Wesley Long Hospital.

Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held 11:00AM Friday November 2, 2018 at Hope Christian Fellowship. The family will receive friends from 10:00AM Friday until time for the service at the church. Interment services, with Military honors, will be held 2:00PM Friday at Salisbury National Cemetery.

Lamar was born January 17, 1946 in Hall County, Georgia to the late Azilee Head and Marvin Pittman. Following graduation from high school, Lamar enlisted in the United States Air Force and served four years.  He was a graduate of Gupton-Jones Mortuary College and began to serve families in the funeral industry; he would serve for over forty years. Lamar was involved with the Masons, rising to 32ND Degree honor. He was an avid fisherman, enjoying both salt water and fresh water fishing.

Lamar was an active member of Hope Christian Fellowship.  He loved and served the Lord with all of his heart.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 45 years, Brenda Benfield Pittman; daughter Kim Burnette and Wes; son Dwayne Pittman and Amy; grandchildren Emily Burnette, Eric Burnette, Bethany Pittman, and Bryce Pittman; sister Jackie Giles; sister-in-law Jean McKee; and numerous extended family and friends.
