Gregory Munning

Obituary of Gregory Tibbetts Munning

Gregory Tibbetts Munning passed away on January 7, 2019 in Durham, NC. He was born on February 10, 1947. After graduating high school in Matawan, NJ, he volunteered for the Vietnam War where he served two tours of duty as a Combat Infantryman in the 173rd Airborne Brigade. With his charisma, dedication and engaging personality he enjoyed a successful career in the printing industry.

With his first wife Dolores Munning, they raised two sons he couldn’t be more proud of. His sense of humor, quick wit and loyalty earned him many close friends, including Dave Parks, a lifelong best friend.  He was an avid horse lover who enjoyed showing cutting horses and breeding shires. His stern conviction, consciousness, and his unwavering sense of duty to his country, were the guiding principles that navigated him through life.  As a distinguished veteran of the Vietnam War, he will be laid to rest at the Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia alongside those with whom he served.

He will be remembered as a selfless man who always looked outward, not inward. Greg’s children and wife sincerely appreciate the warm support of his siblings in this time of sorrow. He will be missed by his two sons Todd and Greg, his friends and family, and his devoted wife Dianne.
