Obituary of Christine P. Davis

Christine P. Davis went home to be with Jesus on February 21, 2019.  Funeral services celebrating her life will be 1:00PM Saturday March 2, 2019 at St. Paul Baptist Church officiated by Rev. James Fisher. Burial will immediately follow at Maplewood Cemetery.

Christine was born in Macon County, Georgia to the late Hattie “Presh” Harpe and Clarence Perkins. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her first husband, Milton Carter, Sr.; second husband, Henry Davis; son, Danny Carter; sisters, Ida lene Carter, Mary Henry, and Geraldine Perry; brothers, Larry Perkins and Walter Perkins.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Jeanelle Carter, Gloria Carter, Iris Carter, Zina Rhodes and husband Rev. Derrick Rhodes; sons, Milton Carter, Jr. and wife Sharon, Kenneth Carter and wife Evelena, Terry Carter and wife Florice, nineteen grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Annie Kate Williamson and husband Johnny, Bernice Hill, Vera and husband Willie; brother, Sylvester Perkins and wife Marie and numerous extended family members.

Christine loved the Lord.  She loved singing in the spiritual choir and was a faithful and dutiful member of St. Paul Baptist Church for over forty years. She loved her pastor, Rev. Fisher.  She had a heart, a spiritual gift and a passion for helping people in any way that she could.  She loved sharing Christian wisdom with others and helping them to make their lives better.  Christine was a compassionate and dedicated caregiver in her work taking care of homebound clients. She enjoyed large family gatherings, especially the Thanksgiving holiday.  She was a great friend to many and an amazing pillar in her family.

Special friends and prayer partners who were a part of her extended family include: Christian Richardson, Una Lee Myers, Jean Scott, Duke and Margie Hudson, Glynn Robertson and the Lincoln Heights Neighborhood, many of whom considered Christine their mother.

A time for visitation will begin at 12:30PM Saturday at the church.
