Obituary of Guyrene Leferne Richardson

Our loving mother and beautiful wife, Guyrene Leferne Williams Richardson went home to be with her Lord and Savior September 24, 2019. She was born September 28, 1943 to Morris Williams and Julia Guy Williams in Greensboro, NC. Guyrene attended public school at Charles Moore, Lincoln Jr. High and James Benson    Dudley High School where she graduated in 1961. She married (David Warren, deceased) and worked in the county government, Library of Congress, The African Embassy and the Archives while living in Washington, DC. Gyrene was instrumental in assisting with the Lee Harvey Oswald investigations while working for the county government in Washington, DC.

She later returned to Greensboro, NC where she was employed as the Director of Shiloh Baptist Church Daycare while she began   attending the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Guyrene later began to work at the Guilford County Managers office under                  (Mr. Witherspoon). She completed her degree in Social Work at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical University. She began working for Social Services in the Child Abuse department; this was her first job in Social Work, but she went on to work in various     departments and assisted so many Guilford County residents. She retired as a Social Worker after working for thirty-two years.

Guyrene’s passion for cooking and hospitality brought so many   people to her home to enjoy good food and fellowship throughout the years, especially at A&T’s homecoming and holidays. Her jokes and laughter made everyone feel right at home.

Those left behind to cherish her loving memory include her husband of thirty-eight years, Thurmond Richardson; sister, Peggy Williams and nephew, Victor Williams; sons, David Warren (Georgia) and  Dewayne Warren; daughters, Angela Lewis (Lloyd), Julia Baker, Anitra Bell (Quincy), and Demetria Joy Jones (Vonte); dearest aunt, Gertrude Avery; sister/cousins, Helen Russell and Katherine Maynard; as well as her amazing and loving grandchildren and great grandchildren; loving childhood friends; and a host of other cousins and family who loved her dearly.

A celebration of her life will be Saturday, September 28, 2019,1:00 pm, at Shiloh Baptist Church with Pastor Allen officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:00 pm prior to the service. Interment will be at Maplewood Cemetery.
