Obituary of Jonah Ray Motsinger
Jonah Ray Motsinger, Jr., 74, of Winston-Salem, NC passed away peacefully Tuesday March 31, 2020. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
A native of Forsyth, Jonah was the husband of Kathryn Gray Motsinger and the son of the late, Jonah Ray Motsinger, Sr. and Bessie Faye Hedgecock Motsinger.
He is survived by his wife Kathy; daughter Amanda Gray Motsinger Huttenlocher and her husband Michael of Brooklyn, N.Y., grandchildren William and Abigail Huttenlocher; sister Shelba Talley, and brother Terry Motsinger and wife Ellen.
J.R. loved people, animals, and farming. He loved being outside, but on rainy days he would sit in his recliner and watch old westerns, especially John Wayne. After heart surgery in 2013, he decided to see the world and enjoyed trips to Alaska, Canada, Germany, England, Scotland and Wales. His greatest pleasure was to visit his grandchildren in Brooklyn.
He was a great neighbor and friend to all. When you hear the phrase, “he would give you the shirt off his back,” that was describing J.R.
