Joseph Veix

Obituary of Joseph Francis Veix

Burlington, NC - Our beloved father Joseph Francis Veix, passed away peacefully to join his loving wife and soulmate Arlene, in God’s great Kingdom.  A leader among businessmen and in family life, a WWII Navy Veteran, he earned the respect of all he crossed paths with.  He was deservedly proud to profess how he built his life from meager beginnings in New Jersey, to become the owner of several successful businesses.  He passed his skills, work ethics and knowledge on to all who lent him an ear, many of whom found success in life following his steps.  His creativity, craftsmanship and imagination were endless.

He lived by his rules and passed peacefully on his own terms displaying a positive attitude up until the end that we would all appreciate having.  He had a great sense of humor, was a dedicated worker with ambitious goals whose gears never stopped turning.  From building large industrial machinery to mowing the lawn, he poured his heart into everything he did.

Joe “Joey” proudly served in the US Navy and was a Plank Owner on the USS Los Angeles CA-135 (http://ca135.com/) in the Pacific Campaign during WWII.  His patriotism and love of country were unsurpassed.   In respect of his years of proudly serving our country, Joe will be honorably interred at Sarasota National Cemetery, in Sarasota Florida alongside his fellow servicemen and women. https://www.cem.va.gov/cems/nchp/sarasota.asp

Joe is survived by his children Debra “Debi” Jean Veix, and Scott Joseph Veix; grandchildren, Jason Chrisco, Nicole Hannifan and Mitchell Veix; and his great granddaughters, Mollie Chrisco and Sasha Hannifan. Joe was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Arlene Joy Veix; his sisters, Marie Veix and Henrietta Veix; and his parents, Emil Frank Veix and Matilda Syganiec Veix.

Joe spent his final time under the outstanding and compassionate care of the staff and nurses of Blakey Hall The Cottage and Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell County.  They not only provided him great care but also a wonderful Veteran’s Day Celebration to honor he and his fellow veterans.  In lieu of flowers, please send donations to his amazing caregivers who provided him the wonderful caring environment that allowed him to live out his final days comfortably with dignity and respect.  We cannot thank them enough.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to AuthoraCare Collective (formerly Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell), 2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405, (336) 532-0100, www.authoracare.org or to Blakey Hall-The Cottage, 501 Blakey Hall Lane, Elon, NC 27244, (336) 506-2300, http://blakeyhall.com/
