Obituary of Rose Mary Kania Rieder

Rose Mary Rieder, 90, went home to be with her Lord Tuesday, May 26, 2020, while in Residence Care at Brookdale Home Health.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00AM Saturday May 30, 2020 at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Father Noah Carter officiating. Inurnment will be in the church columbarium.

Rose was born April 17, 1930 in Bullville, New York to the late John and Victoria Kania. In addition, she also was preceded in death by brothers, Martin, Julius, Frankie, Joey, and Stanley.

Survivors include her loving husband of 63 years, Rupert “Bud” Rieder of the home; daughters, Lea Warosh, Tracey Albrecht, and Sharon; grandchildren, Rosemarie Warosh, Luke Albrecht, and Keith Albrecht; great grandson, Charlie Yim; sister, Helen Kania Bennison of Bullville, NY; brother, Tony Kania of Bayshore, Long Island; and numerous extended family and friends.

Rose lived a full life and after her graduation from Business School, she worked as an Executive Secretary to the director of the Laboratory at Picatinny Arsenal in Dover, New Jersey, and that is where she met her husband-to-be, Bud.

After moving to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she spent twenty years as a hospital volunteer and also volunteered at a sheltered workshop where her daughter Sharon worked. Rose loved to crochet and made many beautiful items which she generously gave away. Rose also enjoyed working with ceramics as well. She lived most of her life in Pittsburgh, where her family was born and raised. In 2016 she, and her husband Bud, and her daughter Sharon, moved to Kernersville, North Carolina to be near their two other daughters Lea and Tracey.

The family wishes to express their appreciation and gratitude for the loving care given to Rose by the staff of Brookdale Home Health Residence and the staff of Trellis Support Hospice.
