Obituary of John Richard Smith

John Richard Smith, 68, of Mayodan, NC passed away Monday June 29, 2020.

Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held 3:00PM Friday July 10, 2020 at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Services Kernersville Chapel with Pastor Mike Little officiating.

A native of Arlington, VA, John was the husband of 45 years to Joan Smith and the son of the late James Roy Smith and Jane Mostowski Smith. John was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the Vietnam War as a Security Police Dog Handler.

Survivors include his wife, Joan of the home; daughters, Jennifer Gowl and husband, Adam of Mebane, NC, and Jessica Smith of Kernersville, NC; grandson, Joshua Gowl; sister, Sandra Shepherd and husband, Glenn of Graham, NC; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, Bradley Smith.
