Obituary of Lonnie William Bovender, Jr.

On Friday, May 14, 2021, Lonnie William Bovender, Jr. “Buddy”, age 74, went to Heaven to be with his Lord, with his family by his side.  He was born January 16, 1947, to Lonnie, Sr. and Margaret (Toby) Bovender.  Lonnie worked at Stroh’s Brewery in Winston-Salem for 24 years, and then owned Family Motors in Sedge Garden for 14 years. He and Judy then owned The Nook & Cranny in Kernersville until 2017.  Lonnie was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed boating at the lake and shag-dancing at the beach.  He loved beach music. Lonnie had the most amazing dimples and a beautiful bass voice.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Judy Holleman Bovender, his daughters, Nikki Jacobs (Ryan) and Cori Bundren (Jamie), his brother Tim Bovender (Belinda), and his grandchildren, Cole, Tucker, Jackson, Teagan, Sadie, Sophie, Ripley and Cooper, and his long-time pet companion, Petey.

The family will receive visitors Monday, May 17^th, from 5:00-7:00 pm at The Jefferson House beside Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home, located at 225 West Mountain Street, Kernersville, NC 27284.
