Obituary of Irene Synan Matthews

Recently God called Irene Synan Matthews home. She closed her eyes on earth and opened them in heaven on August 27, 2021.

Irene was born March 26, 1930 to the late John and Concetta Carmello. She married Robert (Bobby) Amos Synan in 1953, settling in Greensboro, NC to raise three children where Irene was also a long standing member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. After Bobby’s passing, Irene was blessed with an 18 year marriage to Joseph T. Matthews.

Anyone who knew Irene knows she loved nothing more than traveling, visiting with relatives, and her church family.

God welcomed her home, with open arms, for a glorious reunion with Bobby, Joe, and her beloved son Michael.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Gary Synan (Teresa) and Sharon S. Wyrick; grandchildren, Ashley Willett (Casey), Jeremy Synan (Krystlyn), Keith Wyrick (Michelle), and Michelle Wyrick; and great grandchildren, Savannah, Sloane, Sailor, Coy Willet, and Watson and Dalton Synan.

Visitation celebrating her life will be held at 9:00 AM Friday, September 3, 2021 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Greensboro, NC with a funeral liturgy following at 10:00 AM officiated by Deacon Robert Morris.
