Obituary of Nancy Forbes Swing

Nancy Forbes Swing, 87, of Kernersville died peacefully at her home, Tuesday, September 7, 2021. She was born on September 9, 1933, in Mount Holly, NC the oldest of four children to the late Lawrence and Edna Forbes. She grew up in Cliffside, NC where she attended Cliffside High School. She played basketball, was a cheerleader, and drum majorette.

She met the love of her life, Jim Swing while in high school. After his service in the Korean war, they were married in 1955 and were blessed with three children. Jim’s job on military defense systems required them to travel and live in several places during his career including El Paso Texas, Bremerhaven West Germany, Kwajalein Atoll Marshall Islands and Colorado Springs Colorado. She was a gifted crafter and made the most beautiful quilts and lady’s pocketbooks. She also did needle point, knitting, and crocheting. Her family was the most important thing in her life and loved them with all her heart.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her son Scott Swing, her brother Jackie Forbes, and sister Anita White.

She is survived by her husband Jim Swing of the home; sons, Michael Swing and Bryan Swing; and sister, Betsey Jones.

A private graveside celebration of Nancy's life will be held for the immediate family. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Nancy’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association- Western Carolina Chapter, 4600 Park Road, Suite 250, Charlotte, NC, 28209.
