Obituary of Iva Medearis Perdue

Iva Medearis Perdue, 88, of Danville, Virginia, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Riverside Health and Rehabilitation.  

Born, November 13, 1933, he was the son of the late James Leonard Perdue and the late Annie Newell Perdue. Iva spent over twenty years working at Cone Mills in Greensboro before opening his own company Perdue Maintenance. He loved spending time with his family, fishing, watching football and Duke basketball, and tinkering with old cars. Iva was a wonderful man, and strived to live each day as an example for the Lord, Jesus Christ. He loved his family dearly, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara Crowder; and son, Gray Perdue.  

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 16 years, Gaynell Perdue of the home; sons, Gene Perdue (Teresa), Wayne Perdue (Liz), Dean Perdue (Ann), Jamie Blane (Brenda); son-in-law, Mike Crowder; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and faithful K-9 companion, Sadie Sue. 

A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Buffalo Presbyterian Church in Greensboro with the Rev. J.D. Weed officiating.  

In lieu of flowers, memorials may in Iva’s memory may be directed to Buffalo Presbyterian Church, 803 Sixteenth Street, Greensboro, NC, 27405. 

Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Service- Lambeth Chapel is serving the Perdue family.
