Obituary of Kenneth Taylor

Mr. Kenneth Taylor, 82, of Greensboro, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2009 after a brief stay in the Palliative Care Unit in Wesley Long Hospital. A memorial service will be held 7:00 pm Thursday, at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Chapel, with the Reverend Bob Voorhees and Mr. Clay Trainum officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7pm, prior to the service. Mr. Taylor was born January 30, 1927, in Spartanburg, SC, to Lloyd and Minnie Simmons Taylor. Mr. Taylor served in the Navy during WW II as a Seaman First Class. He was honorably discharged in June, 1946. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Taylor. Mr. Taylor worked for Billy Graham Evangelistic Association for a number of years before founding his own missionary organization, Christ for the Island World. Ken had a passion for missionary work. He traveled into the jungles of Indonesia with his wife and young son to preach the gospel. He also was a reverend in the Christian Missionary Alliance Church and a member of Westover Church in Greensboro. Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife of over 61 years, Mary G. Taylor; a son, Jonathan Taylor and wife Cynthia; grandson, Michael Taylor and wife Nicole; great-granddaughter, Savannah Taylor; sister, Phyllis Taylor, of Florida; a brother, Lloyd Taylor, of South Carolina.
