Obituary of Elna Kuehnast

GREENSBORO - Elna Mildred Kuehnast, 90, of Greensboro, passed away from this earthly life to be with her Savior Thursday, April 2, 2009. A memorial celebration of her life will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, April 10, at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, with the Reverend Dr. Daniel Koenig and the Reverend Joshua Haugen officiating. Ms. Kuehnast was born on March 19, 1919, in Humboldt County, Iowa, to Edwin and Caroline (Lena) Kuehnast. She lived on the farm and cared for her parents in their later years, then moved to Tucson, Arizona, to be near her youngest brother and family. There she worked for many years as a nurse's aid. In July of 2005, she moved to Greensboro, N.C., to be near her niece and family. Ms. Kuehnast is survived by brothers, Lloyd Kuehnast of Nebraska and Leo Kuehnast and wife, Lola Mae of Iowa; nephews, Rod Kuehnast of Oregon, Leonard Kuehnast of Nebraska; nieces, Carolyn Koenig and husband, Dan of Greensboro, N.C., Donna Kuehnast of Nebraska, and Diane Koch and husband, Jim of Iowa. Ms. Kuehnast was preceded in death by parents, Edwin and Lena Kuehnast and brothers, Carroll Kuehnast and wife, Beverly and Roy Kuehnast and wife, Elsie. The family will receive friends at 12:30 p.m. until the memorial service on Saturday. Memorials may be directed to Ebenezer Lutheran Church, 310 S. Tremont Drive, Greensboro, NC, 27403.
