Obituary of Sylvia Vaughn

Mrs. Sylvia W. Vaughn, 73, of Greensboro, went home to dance with Jesus. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, Sunday, January 30, 2011, at Wesley Long Hospital. Funeral services will be held 2:00pm, Saturday, February 5th, at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Chapel, with Pastors Tim DeGroot and Rob Johnson officiating. Mrs. Vaughn will lie in state for personal viewing for an hour prior to the service. A private burial will be at Guilford Memorial Park. Mrs. Vaughn was born December 22, 1937, in Guilford County, to the late Jesse and Martha Nelson Willard. She graduated from Greensboro High School, and then attended National Business College in Roanoke Virginia and received her degree in business administration. At the college she met the love of her life, Landon Vaughn. Landon and she were married at Friendly Avenue Baptist Church (formerly Asheboro Street Baptist Church) on August 18th, 1957, which she called the church of her heart. Mrs. Vaughn was a member of the Guilford Chapter #141 of the Order of Eastern Star. She worked as a customer service manager for Sears for over 15 years. She and her husband also owned and operated Southeast restaurant for many years. Mrs. Vaughn loved to travel, play games, and do arts and crafts. She was a loving wife, mother, Maw-Maw, and friend to all. She was a Proverbs 31 woman. Mrs. Vaughn is survived by her husband of 53 years, Landon C. Vaughn; daughter Cammie (Rob) Johnson; son, Andy Vaughn; brother, Wayne Willard; grandchildren, Matt (Jenna) Johnson, Jennifer (Tim) DeGroot, Airman Sylvia Johnson, Jaycee Johnson, Colby Johnson, and Noah Johnson; great-grandson, Bryson Johnson.
