Obituary of Ruth Cooke

Mrs. Ruth Capps Cooke, 88, of Brown Summit, died Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at Moses Cone Hospital. A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm Friday, at Lakeview Memorial Park, with Pastor Jerry Strader and Pastor Ed Allred officiating. Mrs. Cooke was born in Guilford County September 15, 1924, to George W. and Claudia Capps. She was married to the late Robert D. Cooke for over 68 years. She worked with the USO during WWII and as a seamstress, retiring from Greensboro Manufacturing. She loved to read and was devoted to her family. In addition to her parents and loving husband she was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 2 brothers. Mrs. Cooke is survived by her daughters, Judith Martin (Jimmy) and Mary Clapp (Gary); sons, Donald E. Cooke (Edie Washington) and Raymond Cooke (Lisa); 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild; special niece, Jane Craddock (Ted); special friends and neighbors, Hunter and Deana Lewis. Memorials may be made to Senior Resources of Greensboro/Mobile Meals, PO Box 21993, Greensboro, NC 27420.
