Obituary of Thomas Howard Shepard

Thomas “Tom” Howard Shepard passed away on May 2, 2018 of complications from pancreatic cancer, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro. He was born in Greensboro on May 26, 1954.

Tom graduated from Page High School and Guilford College, and worked in hardware and software at Harris Computer. For the past 22 years Tom played bass with Soul Central Band, his greatest love, and was known to have built several of his own instruments. In recent years he had also participated in his local neighborhood watch group. A sports fan in general, Tom was an avid fan of auto racing, often travelling to Indiana for the annual running of the Indianapolis 500. Some of his other hobbies included cooking and listening to great music.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John de Berard Shepard and Agnes Howard Shepard, and is survived by his older brother John Shepard, half-brother Gardner Foley, half-sisters Colin Michael, Elisabeth Knauff, Marguerite Shepard, and Vivian Johnson, and numerous friends and colleagues.
