Obituary of Virgie Welch

Winston-Salem-Virgie Posey "Granny" Welch, 93, went home to be with her Lord March 17, 2012. Funeral Services celebrating her life will be held 2:00PM Tuesday March 20, 2012 at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home Chapel in Kernersville with Dr. Joe Myers officiating. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park in Greensboro. A native of Charles County, Maryland, Virgie was the daughter of the late Lillie Henderson and Albert J. Posey. She was a member of Kerwin Baptist Church and she was a homemaker most of her life. In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her husband William Edmond Welch and her sister Zuliema Gilroy. Survivors include her daughter Marie Church and Michael of Winston-Salem; grandson Stevan Garner and Julia of Wallburg; and a great-grandson Stevan Lee Garner. The family will visit with friends from 1:00PM until time for the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
