Obituary of James Summers

Biography Kernersville-James Thomas "Tom" Summers, Jr., 68, passed away peacefully March 7, 2012. Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held 2:00PM Sunday March 11, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Kernersville with Dr. Stephen Martin officiating. Interment will be held in Charity Baptist Church Cemetery in Yadkin County. A native of Statesville, he was the son of the late Joy Stone Summers and James Thomas Summers, Sr. He was retired from Members Credit Union in Winston-Salem. An avid "researcher", he loved hunting, was a NRA member, and also a member of Rockingham County Gun Club. He had been a coach for Kernersville Soccer Association. He was so attached to his "grand dogs" Isabella, Diesel, Chloe, Barley, Kain, and Kobe. He was a true "Tar Heel" and was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Carolina sports was a true love for Tom. He was a husband, father, grandfather, and true friend to so many who knew him. In addition to his parents he also was preceded in death by a brother Kent Summers. Survivors include his loving wife of 32 years Robin Reece Summers of the home; daughters Erin Lee and Michael of Orlando, FL, and Megan Pyrtle and Dewayne of Kernersville; son James Thomas Summers, III and Jennifer of Monroe; grandchildren William and Jenna Lee; brother David Summers of Brown Summit; cousin Diane Kessler of Durham, and other cousins and extended family. The family will visit with friends immediately following the service at the church on Sunday.
