Obituary of Gerald Sapp

Biography Kernersville-Gerald Wayne "Buddy" Sapp, Sr., 87, went home to be with his Lord February 4, 2012. Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held 11:00AM Tuesday February 7, 2012 at Sedge Garden United Methodist Church. Interment with full military honors will be in the church cemetery. A native of Forsyth County, "Buddy" was the son of the late Monnie Huls and George Bruce Sapp. He served his country with the US Navy during WWII, where he fought in the Atlantic. He served most of his service time aboard the USS Frost. He had worked for a number of years for Pleasant Hardware and after retirement worked as a funeral associate for the former Pierce Funeral Home, Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home in Greensboro, and later with Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Service. He was a member of Sedge Garden United Methodist Church and always proud of his singing with the choir for almost 70 years. He also was a member of the Walker Sunday School Class. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #669 AF&AM, Scottish Rite, and the Shrine. In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by his sisters Lucille Sapp and Eloise Hastings. Survivors include his loving wife of almost 65 years Evelyn Patterson Sapp of the home; son Gerald Wayne Sapp, Jr. and Terri of Kernersville; grandchildren Daniel Sapp and Meredith Sapp. The family will visit with friends immediately following the service at the church.
