Obituary of William Westmoreland

Biography Greensboro- William H. "Billy' Westmoreland, Jr., 77, passed away peacefully on Saturday January 21, 2012. He had been in declining health in recent years. Billy was born August 1, 1934, in Guilford County to William Homer and Virginia Stafford Westmoreland. A veteran, he served in both the U.S. Navy and the Air Force and worked many years as an over-the-road trucker. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Barry S. Westmoreland and David S. Westmoreland. Survivors include his son William Shane Westmoreland and fiancé© Jessica of Inman, S.C.; three brothers, Lyndon K. Westmoreland of Winston-Salem, Stephen M. Westmoreland of Belews Creek and Paul E. Westmoreland of Colfax; and his brothers' families. The family will receive friends from 3-5PM Sunday January 22, 2012 at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home in Kernersville. A family graveside service will be held at a later date at the Sandy Ridge Cemetery.
