Obituary of Grady Johnson

Biography Kernersville-Grady Lee Johnson, 83, went home to be with his Lord September 27, 2011 following an extended illness. Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held 2:00PM Friday September 30, 2011 at Colfax Baptist Church with Pastor Judd Dixon and Rev. Beauford Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. A native of Forsyth County, he was the son of the late Hessie and Ira Johnson. He served his country during WWII and also during the Korean War with the US Army 709th Military Police Unit. He was retired from AT&T Western Electric in Winston-Salem. He also was a member of Colfax Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and a Trustee of the church. In addition to his parents he also was predeceased by his sisters Lucille Loggins and Peggy Gibbons. Survivors include his wife of 63 years Mildred Shreve Johnson of the home; daughter Lisa Johnson Hall and Scott of Winston-Salem; son Darryl Gray Johnson and Carmen of Acworth, Georgia; grandchildren Ashley Johnson, Laura Hall, Mary Kathryn Johnson, and Joseph Hall; and all the family that have been a part of Grady's life. The family will visit with friends from 12:30 pm until time for the service at the church on Friday.
