Obituary of Oletta Johnson

Biography Kernersville - Oletta Barrett Johnson, 88, was called home to be with Jesus on September 2, 2011. Services celebrating her life will be held at 3:00PM Sunday, September 4, 2011 at Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home. Oletta was born September 22, 1922 in Yantis, Texas to the late Addie Lee Brown Barrett and William Carl Barrett. She married Berlie Benjamin Johnson on September 11, 1939. Together they were blessed to have seven wonderful children, whom she always put first. Throughout her life she was a generous and devoted caregiver to many. She loved antiques, reading, and was a prolific poet. She was clever, resourceful, quick-witted and tirelessly faithful. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two beloved daughters Glenda Sue Harrington and Robin Kathleen Lynch. Survivors include her daughters Mary Alice Bellflower, Patsy Jane Johnson, Judy Ann Johnson, and Jacqueline Newsom and her husband David; son Paul Lee Johnson; grandchildren David Lee, Tracy, April, Annalea, Paul Lee II, Tammy, Kevin, Marsha, Darci, Philip, Sarah, and Scott; many great- and great-great-grandchildren; and several other nieces, nephews, extended family and cherished friends who will miss her dearly. Family and friends will gather from 2:00PM until time for the service at the funeral home.
