Obituary of James Brown

Kernersville-James Earl Brown, 70, went home to be with his Lord August 29, 2011 after a long battle with Alzheimer ’s disease. Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held 11:00AM Thursday at Glenn View Baptist Church with Pastor Dr. William Coleman officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. A native of Ahoskie, NC, James was the son of the late Daisy Jane Hoggard Brown and James Raleigh Brown. He went to Ahoskie High School prior to his enlistment with the US Army National Guard. He drove delivery trucks for Perdue Farms for a number of years prior to his retirement. He and his wife Camelia moved to Kernersville in 2001 to be closer to their family and particularly the grandchildren. In addition to his parents he also was preceded in death by his brother Shirley Lee Brown. Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years Camelia Burkett Brown of Kernersville; son Brian Brown and Sherry of High Point; grandchildren Madeline Brown, Gretchen Brown, and Helena Brown all of High Point; sisters Mary Ellen Brock and Johnny of Ahoskie, and Doris Smith and Al of Murfreesboro; sister-in-law Alice Faye Brown of Ahoskie. The family will visit with friends from 6-8pm Wednesday evening at Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home.
