Obituary of Travis Simmons

Biography Kernersville - Travis Edward Simmons, 71, took life's final checkered flag on February 16, 2011 at his home in Kernersville, NC. While this earth lost a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather-heaven gained an angel. A graveside service to celebrate his life will be held 2:00 PM Friday February 18, 2011 at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown with Brother Bobby Roberson officiating. An avid fan of NASCAR, Wake Forest athletics and the Carolina Panthers, Travis retired from Roadway trucking and faithfully attended Gospel Light Baptist Church. His wit, charm and wisdom will be missed by all who loved him. Born August 17, 1939 to his late parents, Sudie Wood Simmons and Charlie Otto Simmons, he is also preceded in death by his brothers Leroy Simmons and Harrell Simmons. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann Simmons; daughters Traci Joyce and Pam Peace; sisters Helen Kye and Linda Billups; brother Donnie Simmons; and three grandchildren Paul Raker, III, Brittany Raker and Lance Joyce.
