Obituary of Pauline Wilson

Kernersville - Pauline "Polly" Youngblood Wilson, 96, my Mother, passed away February 5, 2011 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. Funeral Services celebrating her life will be held 12:00PM Monday February 7, 2011 at First Baptist Church of Kernersville with Pastor Dr. Stephen Martin officiating. Entombment will be in Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. She was born to Johnathan A. Youngblood and Eula Weeks Youngblood on February 8, 1914 in West Point, Mississippi. Her Dad was a Railroad man. God blessed me with a Christian Mother who was kind and loving and spent every one of her almost 97 years to the fullest. She was an energetic, and loving, Grandmother to Michael W. Murray and Leslie E. Murray both of Greensboro, NC, and to Leigh K. Murray of Stow, Ohio. They were the light of her life for all of her years. Pauline spent all of her married life in Homewood, Alabama near Birmingham. She had many friends, both neighbors and work friends, and close friends in her Sunday School Class at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church. At the passing of her husband William Vernon Wilson in 1989, she stayed in Homewood for 2 years and then moved to Kernersville, NC in 1992 to be near her daughter Gloria Murray and Richard Murray her wonderful son-in-law. After moving to Kernersville, she quickly became a friend to Rick and Gloria's friends and to her special friends at First Baptist Church in the Fidelis Sunday School Class. Pauline was active in the outreach of the SS Class and formed many close friends there. She also was active in the B-Friendly group at First Baptist Church. One special friend who moved to Kernersville around the same time Polly did, Thelma Long, became one of her good friends from the start, and they went to exercise classes, and on trips together and, in general, shared life together in those special years in Kernersville. Polly enjoyed serving her church through Sunday School, taking trips and spending time with her family, working in her yard, and being with her grandchildren. Written in love by daughter Gloria W. Murray. In addition to her parents, Polly was also preceded in death by her husband William Vernon Wilson, Jr., his grand-daughter Mary Lee Holloway and her father Leroy Holloway, Pauline's sisters Bessie Lee Simmons(Wilburn) of Meridian, Mississippi, Gene Fountain(Bill) of Pensacola, Florida, and brother Jack A. Youngblood of Meridian, Mississippi. She was the mother of Gloria W. Murray and her husband Rick Murray of Kernersville; grandmother to Michael W. Murray and Leslie E. Murray both of Greensboro, NC, and to Leigh K. Murray of Stow, Ohio; she also is survived by Mattie Shuff her youngest sister and husband Bernard who reside in Laurel, Mississippi with their extended family. Pauline was the step-mother of Mary Joyce Holloway of Taylor, Texas. Other extended family reside in Mississippi, Alabama, North Carolina, California, and New Jersey. Pauline loved God, all of her family and friends and will be missed by us all, but because of God's promises, we will be together again! The family will visit with friends Monday afternoon immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall. Memorial contributions may be made to the Children's Ministry Fund, or the Deacon Fund, of First Baptist Church of Kernersville, or the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home of Winston-Salem. Special thanks and appreciation to a special caregiver and friend Rosemary Humphrey and to those Nurses and CNA's who cared for her at Britthaven in Kernersville for the last six months.
