Obituary of Ernest Paul Cockman

Ernest Paul Cockman, 96, of Browns Summit passed away on November 1, 2023 at Beacon Place in Greensboro.  A native of Greensboro, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Causey and Dora (Hawks) Cockman and husband of the late Jean Cockman.

Mr. Cockman was a WWII Army veteran and a successful business owner. He was known for his love of people, most especially his family. He brought laughter and happiness to many people and will forever be missed.

Ernest is survived by his daughters, Gayle Myrick (Jimmy), Paula Knight (Ray), Connie Dodgin; six grandchildren, Kristin Wyrick (Kevin), Kasey Downey (Chris), Brian Knight (Vicki), Kevin Knight (Miranda), Taylor Dodgin, and Sydney Dodgin; five great-grandchildren, Madison Thompson, Maxwell Downey, Sloane Downey, Harley Knight, and Zane Knight; and best friends, Henry Chapmon and Nellie Leggett.

In addition to his parents and his late wife, he was preceded in death by his brother and sisters.
