David Connor

Obituary of David Peter Connor

David Peter Connor (Dave), 70, of Greensboro, North Carolina, passed away on November 7th, 2023 after struggling with complications due to his courageous battle with leukemia. He was able to spend time with family members from various areas of the country in the weeks leading to his passing. He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.

Dave was born on May 3rd, 1953 to Clarence “Buster” Connor, Jr. and Alma (Grandmaison) Connor in Nashua, NH. He graduated from Nashua High School in 1972 and attended Plymouth State University, graduating in 1976 with a degree in Business Administration and Management. For most of his professional life, he was a store and District Manager for Ames department stores, spending much of his career with Ames in Oxford and Lewiston, Maine. After his time with Ames, Dave established Maine Appraisal Services, Inc. and enjoyed traveling throughout Maine as a home appraiser. He and his loving wife, Lisa, moved to North Carolina in 2016.

Dave was an avid golfer and spent many mornings, especially after retirement, working on his swing and enjoying the challenge of the course. As a perpetual tinkerer, he loved taking on home improvement projects and found much joy in a completed project, before moving on to the next. He also had a soft spot in his heart for rescue dogs and, together with his wife, Lisa, helped many dogs in need, including his own three dogs, Walter, Bandit, and Daisy.

Above all, Dave was a family man who showed unwavering love, care, and support to his wife, kids and extended family. He was their role model, teacher, confidant, and biggest supporter. Dave had a loving heart and a wonderful sense of humor. Anyone who knew him knew they could share a laugh and good conversation anytime; his wit and smirk will be remembered forever.

Dave will be deeply missed by his wife, Lisa Connor; his children Christopher Connor (wife Rebecca) of Bangor, Maine and Kelly Jones (husband Andrew) of Arlington, Massachusetts; step-son Tyler Bennett (fiance Samantha Wormwood) of Greenwood, Maine; grandsons Wyatt (19), Gabriel (18), Rhys (8), and Evan (4); brother Stephen Connor (wife Debbie) and sister Susan Nalette, and many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. His legacy of love and humor will live on in the hearts of those he knew, in the laughter of his grandchildren, and in the wagging tails of the many rescue dogs he helped. Dave will be forever missed, but his spirit and cherished memories will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.

Per Dave’s request, no services are planned. A family gathering to honor his life will be planned in the spring. Any donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Saving Sampson, Mutt Love Rescue or Safe at Last Rescue.
