Obituary of Clay Howard Hudson, Sr.

Clay Howard Hudson, Sr., 81, of Kernersville passed away peacefully Thursday, February 1, 2024.

 

A native of Rockingham County, NC, Clay was the husband of 32 years to the late Sarah Jane Hastings Hudson and the son of Henry Clay Hudson, Sr. and Ruby Barham Hudson, both deceased. Clay was an avid Duke Blue Devils fan, loved to golf, and loved playing Rook with his sisters and brother.

 

Survivors include his two sons, Clay Howard Hudson, Jr. and wife, Donna of Kernersville, NC, and Jeff Hudson of Raleigh, NC; step-daughter, Pamela Summer of Oak Ridge, NC; step-son, Brian McGraw and wife, Amy of Pleasant Garden, NC; three grandchildren, Kristen Hudson, Travis Hudson, and Peyton McGraw; and four sisters, Gale Lee and husband, Rick, Roxie Williams and husband, Jimmie, Kitty Strickland and husband, Ray, and Pamela Tucker and husband, Chucky.

 

In addition to his wife, Sarah and his parents, Clay was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of their children, Rachel Warren Hudson; three sisters, Sue Lemons, Celia Tuttle, and Minnie Lou Hudson; and brother, Henry Clay “H.C.” Hudson, Jr.

 

The family will greet friends from 1:00PM to 2:00PM Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Services, Kernersville, NC

 

A graveside service celebrating his life will be held at 2:30PM Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, Winston-Salem, NC.

 

Memorials may be made to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
