Obituary of Glenn L. Williams

Glenn L. Williams, 94, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2019 at his home in Greensboro. Funeral services will be held at 2PM Saturday March 30, 2019 at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral & Cremation Service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1PM-2PM at the funeral home.

Glenn was born in Big Rapids, Michigan on October 14, 1924 to the late Bernie and Jennie Williams. He graduated from high school in Barryton Michigan and worked as a deck hand on the great lakes freighters during the summers. He then served in the U.S. Navy assigned to a transport ship in the pacific during WWII. In 1952 he went to work for Dow Corning and retired after 35 years.  Glenn was also a member of O’Henry Civitans and Hamilton Lakes Civitans for many years. One role he always enjoyed was being Santa Claus for the home of special needs children.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Ottillee Williams; daughter, Gail Smith; sons, Steven Williams and Renee’, Brad Williams and Robin; grandchildren, Alison Richins and John, Daniel Williams, Franklin Smith along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by grandson, Ryan Smith; son-in-law, Ron Smith; sister, Myrna Henson and husband Richard; brothers, Clarence Valentine, Charles Valentine and wife Katie, Jay Williams and wife Jerrie.
