Obituary of Howard Coleman

Howard Coleman, 92, went to be with Jesus and his wife, Virginia, on Monday, December 9, 2019 at Beacon Place Hospice Home in Greensboro.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be 2:00PM Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Home Chapel.  Pastor Paul Luttrell will officiate the services.  Burial with full military honors will immediately follow at Lakeview Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 1:00PM.

Howard was born February 12, 1927 in Guilford County to the late Thelma Grace McDaniel Coleman and Houston Gordon Coleman. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Virginia Harris Coleman.

Survivors include his daughters, Vickie Coleman, Cindy Sechrist, and Cheryl Watkins and husband Jody; grandchildren, Jamey Kivett and wife Jennifer, Melody Mason, Michael Brame, Elisabeth Watkins, Jason Sechrist and wife Kari; great-grandchildren, Jamey Mason, Emily Watkins, Kasadi Sechrist, and Kelsi Sechrist; brother, Marvin Coleman and a sister, Joyce Davis.

Howard served his country honorably in the US Navy. His service included duty aboard the USS Rizzi, a destroyer ship, during WW II.  Howard was an active member of the American Legion Post 386 in Greensboro. He was a longtime member of Lankford Memorial Baptist Church.

Howard was always helping out people when needed and never met a stranger.
