I will always remember Roger's grace under pressure with a campsite full of rowdy teenagers on church camping trips. He was a true blessing in my life.

Roger Ballard had a very special gift, that of moral courage. He had an uncanny ability to see the world in shades of "right and wrong", "good and bad," "possible or impossible" that politicians and ordinary people might only envy. When I decided to pull the cedar shingles off the sides of our little home cottage and to brighten it up with white stucco siding, I had the idea to take the still good cedar shingles and put them on the roof. My relatives went ballistic, "no, no, no." Roger, on one of his daily walks, saw my brother and me standing in the yard looking at the roof, surrounded by stacks of wooden shingles. I shared my plight that outside my brother, there was no support in any of the Stafford or Crews clan for reusing these shingles. Roger, without a pause, said. "I think it's a great idea amd I will climb on the roof and help you do it!" He did indeed and those precious shingles lasted 22 years. Ann, Tina, Kirsten and Matt have mountains of family examples of Roger's moral courage. Roger set a high water mark for all who knew him to follow. His Cousin, Suzanne Stafford

Ann, Tina, Kirsten, and Matt, I am sending my love to you all. Roger was a great man. He always had a smile for me, even when I was super hyper! Ann, you and Roger will forever be in my heart as being wonderful Girl scout leaders to me. Tina & Kirsten thank you for putting up with me when you babysit me. Matthew, I am truly sorry for your loss of your hero. I know that you were able to spend the last few months with him and were able to share times with him. He will live on in you and your sisters. I am truly grateful for knowing him since I was 6. Sending you hugs and love, Holly D. Little

The first persimmon pudding I made was when Roger and Ann gave us prepackaged pulp for Christmas. I have been been making at least one every Christmas since. His pulp was the best! We remember him with love and thanksgiving to God for equipping him with an abundance of love that he continually shared with all. Grace and peace to Ann and family, Mary and Russ McNeal

Roger was a good man to me and had a large heart. He was there for me when I needed him. Like a father to me he took me hunting and fishing and told me right from wrong .proud to call him my uncle and will remember the good times I was with him . I know you are at peace
