Brad was my best friend in college. We had some great times together. Just a wonderful guy. So sad that he is gone. We last talked about a year before he died. I called him out of the blue and we talked for more than an hour. Just like old times. Miss you Brad.

I am so sad to learn Brad is gone. I was a cub reporter in Charlotte and really admired him. He seemed to know everyone! In the early days he had a big clunky tape recorder hanging off one shoulder and a stick mic in the other. Technology got better.
But he was SO well connected. He was also very kind and nice in the field. He was competitive, yet gentlemanly. Sigh. My sincerest condolences to his family and friends.

One of the finest men I have ever had the pleasure and honor of knowing. A gentle spirit and a gentle man.

Through all of the many years of service and friendship with Brad, we certainly enjoyed the camaraderie and spirit you brought to our lives. You stuck with us through many hard times as individuals and with projects' successes and challenges. You were our Communications Super Hero. (Photo from his GoTriangle retirement party.)

To you Brad!
I was so lucky to work with you at CATS! You were a great mentor, even a better friend. Was thrilled when you went to GoTriangle where your talents could be better known. It was my great honor and joy when you visited me in California and I was sorry to lose touch in recent years. You were the consummate professional, mentor and true friend to me. The things that impressed me more were your bone-deep kindness, generous spirit and outrageous humor! The world has certainly changed since we last spoke, and now it isn’t quite as warm. I’ll miss you my friend!

I fondly remember many conversations and interviews with Brad over the years; he was the newsman and I was the spokesman. He was professional, fair, thorough and always on a story. Great reporter, super voice and good friend. I will miss him coming into my office from the newsroom next door to see if we had any coffee and perhaps a story on Charlotte City government. We always had both and he knew it.
Peace my friend always,

I am so sad to see the passing of Brad Schultz. He was such a talented, kind and insightful broadcaster. It was my pleasure to work with him for years at WBT and Jefferson Pilot. My mother and I had a special place in our hearts for Brad because he gave Mom one of her beloved and cherished cats. He will be missed. Moira Quinn

Such wonderful childhood memories of Christmas Day at my Aunt Edith and Uncle Walter's house where Brad would entertain us all with his accordion skills, funny stories and great family together times! I received a cassette recorder for Christmas one year and my brother, Devin, Brad and I took turns pretending we were network news personalities as we recorded silly stories for hours.
Brad always knew he wanted to pursue a career in journalism. What made his dream so remarkable was that Brad overcame early speech challenges to become a well-respected on and off air radio personality. He loved animals--especially cats, and loved on his "Katty".
There were a few special visits to the wild west of Arizona to visit family, to celebrate with more memories and an occasional margarita. Brad also blessed us all with a beautiful, professionally orated rendition of a poem shared at my dad's graveside service and was there for my mom's service last summer.
"Good night, Chet Chet." You are loved. Rest in peace. You will be terribly missed.-- Melanie

Brad was one of the “good guys” in high school. He had a golden voice for radio or TV and always knew he wanted to work in communications. We talked with him at a class reunion a few years ago and he had the same great personality. Our condolences to his family and friends.
