Obituary of Wacon Daniel Cottingham, Jr
Wacon Daniel “Dan” Cottingham, Jr., 78, passed away peacefully as he was surrounded by his loving family on August 11, 2020.
A “walk through” time of visiting with the family will be held from 10:00AM until 11:00AM Friday August 14, 2020 at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in Mt. Gur Cemetery with full military honors.
A native of Dillon, South Carolina, Dan was the son of the late Ethel Cooper and Wacon Daniel Cottingham, Sr. In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by his son, Wacon Daniel Cottingham, III; granddaughter, Amanda Marion; and sisters, May Sutton, Emily Campbell, and Peggy Pepper.
Dan served his country with the United States Navy and was retired from Roadway Trucking following over thirty years of service. He was also a member of the Kernersville Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Margaret Cottingham of the home; daughters, Suzanne Stomean and Lonnie of Kernersville, and Jennifer Collins and Eddie of Wallburg; son, Cliff Cottingham and Brandi of Kernersville; granddaughter, Jordan Stomean of Kernersville; great-grandchildren, McKenzie and Madelynn; sisters, Nita Bruce, and Sylvia Luscan and John all of Florida; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
