Obituary of Wayne Ward

Carl “Wayne” Ward, 72, of Winston Salem, entered into eternal rest with his Lord and Saviour on Monday, August 16, 2021 at Forsyth Medical Center with his loving family at his side.  

Born, February 23, 1949, in Forsyth County, Wayne was the son of the late Carl William Ward and the late Pauline Neal Ward. He married the love of his life Patricia Hewett on November 13, 1967. Wayne was a faithful member of Gospel Light Baptist Church. He was a family man, and loved his family dearly. 

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years, Patricia Ward of the home; daughters, Donna Doby (David), Karla Palmer (Bruce); grand-daughter, Brittany Palmer; grandsons, Dalton Doby and Dixon Doby; sisters, Brenda Ward, Renee Harvey (Jeff), and Willene Riddle (Don); and brother-in-law Danny Hewett.  

Funeral Services will be held at Gospel Light Baptist Church on Friday, August 20, 2021 at 10:00 AM with the Rev. Matt Morrison and the Rev. Frank Shumate officiating. A visitation will be held at Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Service- Kernersville Chapel on Thursday, August 19, 2021, from 5:00-7:00 PM.  

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials in Wayne’s memory be directed to Gospel Light Baptist Church- Bus Ministry, 890 Walkertown Guthrie Road, Winston Salem, NC, 27101.
