Obituary of RL King Almond

  RL King Almond, 94, of Greensboro passed away on July 9, 2023, at Beacon Place Hospice of Greensboro.  A native of Concord, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Stamey and Bessie (Whitley) Almond and husband of Rebecca Murray Almond.

  RL is survived by son, Stanley Almond, and sister, Doris Pruitt. Left to also cherish his memory are several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. His stepchildren were also blessed to be loved and mentored by such a wonderful man.

  He was preceded in death by Robbie McClamrock Almond, daughters Sue Harris and Donna Pittman, brother Coy Almond, and sister Vernice Almond.

  RL was employed in the transportation industry where he received numerous awards for his outstanding performance. He was a member of several organizations that believed in improving the lives of children and their communities. He loved music and at the age of 80, began building musical instruments -guitars and dulcimers- which he freely shared with others. He participated in several foreign mission trips through the United Methodist Church to Mexico and Puerto Rico to help build and repair various churches and community centers. He also served numerous missions to repair churches within the Western North Carolina Methodist Conference. He visited Hawaii and Italy and found both beautiful and inspiring. RL was especially grateful for the opportunity to visit the Holy Land. He was a devoted Christian and loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

  His constant, steadfast presence will be missed until we meet again.

  Funeral services will be at Pierce - Jefferson Funeral Service, Lambeth Chapel, 2:00pm on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, with Stanley Almond officiating.  Interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Greensboro.
