Obituary of Jeanne H. Edmunds

Jeanne Herron Shinn Edmunds left her earthly family to be with the Lord on September 16, 2023. She died peacefully at her home surrounded by her daughters and her long time friend and Pastor, Carolyn Lee. Jeanne was two weeks shy of her 99th birthday. She was born on September 30, 1924 in Asheville NC, and daughter to Mildred Rigsby Herron Shinn and Kenneth Herron, and later stepfather Dowd Alexander Shinn. She married high school sweetheart and love of her life Samuel Watson Edmunds on November 21, 1942. She was a loving mother to her children Brian [Betty], Jackie, Debbie, and Sue. After losing her beloved husband of 65 years on July 30, 2008, her faith in God never waivered. She continued to live her life as independently as she could with help from her daughters. She enjoyed her Bible studies and she taught several classes over the years. She also enjoyed her flowers and flowerbeds and especially loved her African Violets, which she was able to grow beautifully.

Jeanne loved her Lord and was devoted to her family and prayed for each member regularly. In addition to her children and daughter in law she leaves 6 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and many friends. When she could no longer attend church, she read her Bible, watched her special Christian teachers on television, and prayed diligently for family members and anyone who had a need.

She could say as the Apostle Paul said in 2 Timothy 4:7 “I have fought the good fight. I have finished the course. I have kept the faith.”

The family expresses a heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Joining Hearts and the loving caregivers Devonda and Denashia.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be sent to Jubilee Ministries in memory of Jeanne Edmunds.
