Obituary of Sharon Loretta Pennell "Shernie" Mabe

Sharon Loretta Pennell "Shernie" Mabe, 76, of Winston-Salem passed Thursday, September 28, 2023 at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center. 

Shernie was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Jackson "Woody" Mabe; father, Wade Pennell; and mother, Edna Lousie Ayers Pennell. She graduated from East Forsyth High School in 1965, and Barber School in 1987. Shernie owned her own barber business in her earlier years. She enjoyed fishing and loved "Days of Our Lives". Her favorite musicians were Elvis and Anne Murray. Shernie was a dedicated caregiver to her mother, Edna and her grandmother, Annie Ayers. She always saw the best in everyone without any judgement. Shernie is survived by her son, Brandon James Lucas; brother, Anthony "Tony" Pennell and wife, Penny; her beloved dog, Spunkie; and her cousins/sisters, Joanne Sapp, and Robin Osborn.  

Shernie was much loved and an amazing lady. She will be deeply missed. 

A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:30PM Monday, October 2, 2023 at Woodland Cemetery, 3123 Indiana Ave., Winston-Salem, NC 27105.
