Obituary of Shirley Ann Harrison Smith

Shirley Ann Harrison Smith, 75, of Kernersville, NC, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Friday, November 17, 2023.

A native of St. Paul, MN, Shirley was the wife of LeRoy F. Smith, Jr., US Army retired and the daughter of Carter Harrison and Genevieve Einberger Harrison, both deceased. Shirley loved traveling with her husband while in the military.  Her favorite place was Munich, Germany.  She held many career paths throughout her life, but working for Northwest Airlines was her dream job that she achieved and loved. She loved working with and helping people. Her many interests included crafting and quilting and decorative painting, you could always find her in her paint studio.  Shirley battled the dreaded disease Rheumatoid Arthritis for 40 years without a complaint. All she cared for was he family and friends. 

Survivors include her husband, LeRoy; daughter, Selena West and husband, Robert; three sons, LeRoy F. Smith, III and wife, Brenda, Jason Smith, and Timothy Smith; five grandchildren, Laura Van Houten and husband, Nathan, LeRoy F. Smith, IV, Anelise West, Kylie West, and Annisten Smith; sister, Barbara Williamson; and brother, Roger Harrison.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by four brothers, Richard Harrison, Robert Harrison, Frank Harrison, and Kenneth Harrison.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 10:00AM Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at First Presbyterian Church, Kernersville, NC with Rev. John Pruitt officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00PM at Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC.
