Obituary of Martha Jeannette Edens

Mrs. Martha Jeannette Edens, 83, of High Point passed away on February 6, 2024 at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Born in Colfax, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Gurney and Lillie (Crews) Morgan and wife of the late Nathan Edens.

After the death of her husband, she worked at Westminster Gardens Cemetery for several years. Martha enjoyed traveling, jewelry, reading and spending time with her family and friends.

Martha is survived by her children, Mailea Edens Sheets and Nathan Edens and his wife, Michelle; her grandchildren, Kailee, Jacob and Atticus; her sister-in-law who was more like a sister, Janice Morgan; her many nieces, nephews, and her great-nieces and -nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan Edens; her brothers, Paul Morgan, James Morgan, and Carl Morgan; her sisters, Gladys Morgan Bremmer, Lorraine Morgan Murray and Ruth Morgan Kirkman.

Funeral services will follow beginning at 3:00PM on Sunday, February 11, 2024 at Shady Grove Wesleyan Church with Pastor Phil Kirkman officiating. Those preferring to donate to a charity in lieu of flowers may make memorial contributions to Foundation for Fighting Blindness, which has a 98% rating for funds being properly allocated. Macular degeneration stole mom's ability to read, which she loved to do, and also to see those she loved and her world clearly. If we could help keep this from happening to someone else, it would make mama's heart smile.
