Obituary of Carrie Harrington

Deaconess Carrie Harrington was born July 21, 1937, in Morven, NC, to JC and Stella Liles Marshall. She was the oldest of six children. Preceding her in death are a brother, JC Marshall and a sister, Lilly Bennett. Deaconess Harrington stepped out of her physical shell on June 3, 2009, at her home, surrounded by her family and friends. Deaconess Harrington was baptized at an early age and joined the Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, in Greensboro, NC. She was a faithful Sunday school teacher, Deaconess, and served faithfully as a Missionary. Deaconess Harrington net and married Tommy Harrington. They walked together as one for over fifty years and was faithful in the service of the Lord. Funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Monday, at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, with the Reverend Johnny Pearson officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Harrington will lie in state for one hour prior to the service. Mrs. Harrington is survived by her husband, Tommy Harrington; daughters, Betty J. Harrington and Dorothy M. Harrington, both of Greensboro; sons, Tommie J. (Tammy) Harrington, of Atlanta, Gregory (Brenda) Harrington, and Dennis Harrington, all of Greensboro; sisters, Effie (James) Williams, of Danville, VA; brothers, Henry (Essie) Marshall and Elbert Marshall, all of Morven; aunt and uncle, Martha and James Powell, of Danville, VA; sisters-in-law Corrina Williams and Betty Harrington, both of Newport News, VA; brother-in-law, Theodore Harrington, of Richmond, VA; six grandchildren, Jamon Harrington, Anyel (Rahsaan) Wright, Keva Harrington, LaMyre Harrington, Shanikwa Harrington, and Qumeisha Wilkerson; three great-grandchildren, Davon Harrington, Jalen Ferrell and Landon Harrington, and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405. Special thanks to the staff of Hospice for their compassionate and loving care of Carrie.
