Obituary of John Russell Pinkelton

John Russell Pinkelton, 80, of Greensboro, went home to be with his Lord Friday, November 29, 2013. A celebration of life service will be held 2:00 pm Monday at Stevens Memorial Baptist Church, with the Reverends Todd Crum and Ronnie Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park. Rev. Pinkelton was born March 1, 1933, in Guilford County to Charles and Lessie Craven Pinkelton. He served in the US Army 30th Infantry Division during the Korean War. He was married to Magdalene Crutchfield Pinkelton for over 60 years and retired from Cone Mills Administrative Division after 45 years of service as an Operations Analyst. As a Minister, he served as Pastor of the Northwest Baptist Church and preached in many churches in and around Greensboro. He served also as Pastor of visitation for Stevens Memorial Baptist Church. He was a member of Stevens Memorial Baptist Church and former member of 16th Street Baptist Church. With his wife, Magdalene, he ministered to the lost, sick, shut-ins and bereaved. Rev. Pinkelton was preceded in death by his parents, son, Alan Wade Pinkelton, brothers, Norman L. Pinkelton and Aaron F. Pinkelton. He is survived by his wife Magdalene Pinkelton; son, Gary W. Pinkelton and wife Debbie; grandchildren, Ashley Martin and husband Chris and Cory Pinkelton; several nieces and nephews The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 pm Sunday, at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Home.
