Obituary of E. Eileen Ellwonger

E. Eileen Ellwonger (Mallon) With family near, Ms. Ellwonger passed Thursday, November 21, 2013. Born into a loving High Point family in 1920, she spent her life loving her parents Robert and Raymell Ellwonger, her sister Robbie Pamplin, her children Maureen and Robert Mallon, her neices and nephews, her seven grand- and great grandchildren and her friends, some of whom she carried with her from grade school. During WWII, she was chosen the very first Miss Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland, not surprising given her charm and attractiveness. She was a full- time working woman long before it became common place. As a Christian, she enjoyed telling people that she had read the Bible 22 times. Throughout, her favorite activity was dancing, harmonizing, entertaining and making sure the "young ones" knew the family stories. She taught us that is was alright to see the world through rose-colored glasses. Even at the end, her smile was infectious. We'll miss her. Many thanks to those that helped her along the way, including her friends in Charlotte, Sun City, AZ, and the staffs at The Stratford in High Point and Friends Homes Guilford in Greensboro. The family will gather at Chestnut Hill Cemetery in Salisbury, NC for a private interment.
