Obituary of Emmazette Adams Overly

Emmazette "Emma" Adams Overly, 78, died in Hopewell, Virginia on November 3, 2013. Mrs. Overly was a lifelong resident of Greensboro, but lived in Virginia with her daughter for the last 5 years. Mrs. Overly was a charter member of Martin Ave Baptist Church. She was born on April 11, 1935 to Joseph Vernon and Susan Emmazette Shelton Adams in Greensboro. Emma's graveside service will be at 11a.m. Wednesday, November 6 at Lakeview Memorial Park Mausoleum with Reverend Angela Marlowe officiating. Emma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charlie Ray Overly; son Sammy Ray Overly and daughter Gwen Overly Crabtree. She is survived by sister, Martha Lockerman, daughter Debra Overly Long, husband Sid, Sandra Overly Lee, husband Mark, son Ray Overly, Jr. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Christopher Thomas Rhynehardt, Amy Holmes Shelmidine and Michael Adam Rhynehardt , step grandchild Chris Lee with 8 great grandchildren, Taylor Rhynehardt, Karly Rhynehardt, Chase Rhynehardt, Caitlin Rhynehardt, Zachary Rhynehardt, Savannah Lee, Kimberly Miller, Wesley Owen Shelmidine and a special floppy eared cocker spaniel "Toby". The family will receive friends at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
