Obituary of Helen Mackert
Mrs. Helen S. Mackert, 89, of Greensboro, died Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Beacon Place after a year-long struggle with renal failure.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, September 7th, at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Chapel, with the Reverend Steve Joyce officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Reidsville.
Helen was born December 5, 1923, in Randolph County to Archie Dean and Maude Nance Shelton. She was married to the late Edwin R. Mackert in 1945 and lived in the Washington DC area most of her life until she and her husband retired and returned to the Greensboro area. She devoted her life to her family as a homemaker and mother. She is best remembered by her sense of humor and her love of laughter. Her quick wit and beautiful smile made her loved by all who knew her.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Jane Ramey and son in law Rick Ramey; son Richard Mackert and daughter in law Elizabeth Mackert; grandchildren Elizaeth Ramey, Ryan Ramey, Chad Mackert and wife Sarah, and Dean Mackert.
The family is especially grateful to those who cared for Helen at Moses Cone Hospital and Fresenius Medical Care Northwest during the course of the past year.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on Friday Sept 6, at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Home.
