Obituary of Donald R. Lewis

Donald R Lewis, 91, died at home with his loving family surrounding him, on July 15, 2013. He was born on August 18, 1921, to Alic McClinton Lewis and Cleo Shearin Lewis in Halifax County, North Carolina. There will be a funeral service Thursday, July 18, 2013, at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Home at 11:00 am with Reverend Greg Freeman officiating. The interment will follow at Lee's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Donald was second born and last surviving of seven siblings. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Lucas Lewis and his parents. He is survived by his daughter, Shearin Whitfield and husband Dennis; son, Bruce Lewis and wife Karen; 3 grandchildren, Krista Whitfield, Joshua Whitfield, Garrett Lewis; and many nieces and nephews. Donald lived his life to the fullest. He proudly served his country for 5 years and served on the front lines in WWII in the Army. He retired from Duke Power after 33 years of service at the age of 63. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
