Obituary of Freddie Allen Bates

Mr. Freddie Allen Bates, 66, of Greensboro, went home to be with his Lord Saturday, March 2, 2013 at his home, surrounded by his loving family, church family, and friends. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, at Pineland Street Full Gospel Church, with the Reverends Jess Lambert and Kenneth Poston officiating. Burial will follow in the Roop/Bates Family cemetery, 2767 Moir Farm Road, Lawsonville, NC. Mr. Bates was born June 30, 1946 in Norton, Virginia, to Emory and Elsie Bates. He retired from the NC Department of Transportation and was a member of Pineland Street Full Gospel Church. He was a loving and giving man, devoted to his family, church, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Vermont Bates. Mr. Bates is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Debra Jackson Bates; daughter, Violet Janelle Cox (Matthew) of Willis, VA; son, Jerry Ittai Bates (Michelle) of Greensboro; sisters, Shirley Cleary (Earnie) of Beckley, WV, Joan Hamilton, of Berryville, VA, Fredia McAmis, of Norton, VA, Janice Mullins, of Dryden, VA; brothers, Arlie Bates Jr., (Judy), of Norton, VA, Donald Glenn Bates, of McLeansville, William L. Bates (Patty), of Medford, MA, and Jimmy Darrol Bates (Debbie), of Sandy Ridge; grandchildren, Noah Bates, Emma Bates, Sammy Bates, Isaiah Cox, and Eijah Cox. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 pm Tuesday, at Pineland Street Full Gospel Church.
